While Waterfall Arts has fostered and forged its identity by immersing its four streams of classes, residencies, exhibitions and events in the wellspring of nature, there has emerged a more comprehensive focus to our future vision and mission.
As the world around us evolves, adapts and responds to environmental, social, economic and artistic changes, so too does Waterfall Arts. Because the organization can and does become involved on all levels and across a variety of community needs and services, our thinking and actions have expanded to view what we do, how we do it, and why with a wide-angle lens of creative engagement: from fine art, to installation art, environmental art, and deep craft skills, from sponsoring events with poetry, art, music and dance, or from embracing new media and technology to educational outreach and addressing vital issues like local vs. global ecology, environmentalism and sustainability. Our task has become far greater than generating awareness, powering understanding and sourcing inspiration, we must be engaged, involved, and pro-active in using creative energy and resources in an effort to ensure a sustainable future. Waterfall Arts has an extraordinary history. We are on the threshold of an extraordinary future and it is ours and yours to help it take shape. Waterfall Arts is committed to providing the high level of artistic accomplishment, diversity, mentoring, and collaboration is has built its reputation upon, while keeping its collective eye on the Montville and Belfast Centers for Art and Design as a community leader, a destination and a fully-engaged member of the Mid-coast creative economy.
