Arthur Ganson, whose exhibit of moving sculptures at Waterfall Arts has been very popular, will talk about his work on Thursday, July 28. The talk at Waterfall Arts, 256 High Street in Belfast, begins at 7pm with a suggested donation of $7 at the door. Students are admitted free.
Ganson has exhibited internationally and has a permanent revolving display at MIT in Boston. Creating kinetic sculptures for over 30 years, he started making his work move because he found he was “most interested in the state of becoming.” His machines have been featured in such diverse settings as the Long Now Foundation seminars, the band Dead Man’s Bones music video, TED talks and the Phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg, Germany. Ganson says that he starts with some idea from deep inside himself, and then “wrestles the idea or question into physicality.”
The Ganson exhibit in the Clifford Gallery closes on Friday July 29. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 1 to 5pm and by appointment.
