Waterfall Arts is celebrating the 2011 Week of the Young Child, April 10-16 with an exhibit of art work by four year old Eliot Bee Andrews. Eliot, who attends Starrett Children’s Center, has been making detailed fairies for about a year. Many of the imaginative figures will be on display in the first floor hallway near the Clifford Gallery.
Linda Stec, who works at the Starrett Center and teaches clay classes at Waterfall Arts, feels the exhibit will bring recognition to a creative young artist and to the importance of providing caring environments for all children that can build on their individual interests as a base for learning. The Week of the Young Child was first established in 1971 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), in recognition that the early childhood years lay the foundation for children's success in school and later life.
