Emily Brown, whose new exhibit, “Drawings and Re-Collections” is currently at Waterfall Arts’ Clifford Gallery, will give an Artist Talk on Tuesday August 16 beginning at 7pm. Waterfall Arts chose Brown’s work to be part of Where to Draw the Line: The Maine Drawing Project, a statewide, year-long series of exhibitions organized by the Maine Curators’ Group, dedicated to the medium of drawing.
Brown, well-known for her large and exquisite ink wash drawings of forests and water surfaces, has developed a new body of work for the exhibit combining drawings of Maine’s inland landscape with historic collage elements in a fresh dynamic of energy and poetry. A resident of Philadelphia and Montville, Brown has taught extensively; her work is included in museum collections throughout the northeast, in Tokyo and at the US Embassy in Kajakhstan. More information can be found at www.emilybrown.net.
The exhibit and talk are sponsored by Michelle Morrow and Donna Broderick and Ellie Daniels. The exhibit continues through September 28 at the Clifford Gallery, located at 256 High Street in Belfast; hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 5, Saturday from 1 to 5 (through the end of August) and by appointment.
