Paste Paper and Gelatin Prints with Laurie Adams
July 24 Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM Age 14 - adult
WA Belfast $50 materials fee $10
Colorful and deceptively simple to do, paste paper has been made for over 400 years and has many uses– collage, cards, wrapping paper, book covers, etc. Combs, brushes, fingers create patterns on paper coated with a mixture of paint and glue. Think of it as grownup finger painting with sophisticated and beautiful results. After lunch, we’ll make painterly gelatin monotypes, which lend themselves to extensive experimentation. The gelatin base is coated with water-soluble inks and paints, then leaves, torn or cut paper and other images are laid on the plate and printed by hand rubbing. Multiple layers and textures can be built up, making wonderfully complex, richly colored prints.
